5 May 2010

 We Withdraw from Caley 1

Following talks with the SRU over inability to fulfil fixtures the Club have formally withdrawn from Caley 1 . They will concentrate now on preparation for their  competitive re emergence in Caley 2 ( Midland ) . This is regional and will eliminate the horrendous travelling which seemed this season's Achilles Heel .

Ramifications  for the League is that Orkney have now virtually secured promotion whilst the 3rd bottom club to play off against Harris in a promotion / relegation decider is still uncertain .

This decision  from a Club view point is somewhat anomalous . With a vibrant and successful youth rugby policy and a superb hands on full time development coach in Peter Cook , the failure for the 1 XV to get results whilst serious is not catastrophic . Alan Rose will adopt overall responsibility for them next season and the appointment of a coach becomes a serious priority .
